Soft O-Rings
Seals are used on a variety of rotating equipment, including valves, pumps, compressors, mixers, steam turbines and other specialty equipment in the field of oil and gas, chemical processing, water, pharmaceutical and other general industries. Soft Seals usually refer to soft seat seals made by non-metals such as rubber (Nitrile, EPDM, etc.) and plastics (Teflon, Nylon, etc.). These seals are leak free and can achieve the highest level of sealing performance.
Seat assembly consists in an outer metallic seat carrier with a soft seat insert, provided with outer O-ring to avoid leakage through the seat carrier and graphite back up ring which ensures the tightness in case the O-ring failure. The most commonly used materials are Nitrilic rubber/ VITON for O-RINGS, which is specified in American standard SAE AS 568. The moderately compressed section is located into a groove, presenting an O-shaped (circular) section seal and can be used as oil&gas water, air and another fluid seal.
