Metal seated valve refers to the mechanical seals systems of valve made by metal. Compared with soft seated valve, these valves mainly used for medium containing solid particles or high temperature above 200 ℃ environment or large diameter valve that with large torque. The surface of the metal seat offers high hardness and specified hardness intercept, that the hardness and abrasion resistance can be enhanced by surface hardening. Metal sealing materials mainly including chromium alloy, cobalt alloy, nickel alloy, tungsten carbide, stainless steel and so on. Almost any type of valve can be metal sealed designed.
Seat assembly consists in an outer metallic seat carrier with a soft seat insert, provided with outer O-ring to avoid leakage through the seat carrier and graphite back up ring which ensures the tightness in case the O-ring failure.
